WHY I LOVELONDON
- The fact that over time you could have experienced anything your heart desired – seen every play, danced to every musician or dj and tasted any food.
- How you can go to various spots in the city and there will always be something going on, there are so many areas to explore.
- The possibilities. The work and play aspects of living here are just endless.
24 HOURS IN LONDONEAT, SEE & DO
From Clapham Common, catch the number 88 bus to the centre of town to see many of the London sights for the price of a one-way bus fare (rather than getting on one of those touristy buses). At Duck & Waffle located on the 40th floor in the heart of the city, a stones throw from Liverpool Street Station with a superb view. It is open 24/7 so whatever you fancy, whenever you fancy it.
Continue with a visit to the Columbia Road Market in the late morning to get some beautiful flowers for a bargain, grab a coffee at Slate Coffee on Curtain Road then take a walking tour with a rehabilitated homeless person with the Unseen Tours team.
Next it would be to visit the epic Natural History Museum, where you can either take in an exhibition or see their fascinating displays.
Finally finish the day off with a drink at Madison overlooking St Pauls Cathedral at dusk.
Get a weekly travelcard, zones 1-2. Take the Clipper along the river Thames like the locals do.
Walk and use the buses – a great way to get around cheaply and also there is always something to look at!
Walk or get the Clipper boat along the Southbank, so many breath-taking sights.
I have always felt very safe in London compared to other European cities, however use your common sense and keep to well-lit areas, girls – no walking along the canals after dark!
